Voices Carry Covers

Don't know if this has already been posted but there are 3 covers of Voices Carry released this year

They are

Spouce, Catch 22 EP on Pigeon Records
Go To Zero, The Mean Season LP on Go To Zero
and the strangest of the 3
Mark Adams Allison, Star Machine LP on Water Music Records - This has also been released as a single

You can also hear it hear http://www.watermusicrecords.com/movies/maa/index.html#

Theres also the Gang Green & Morella's Forest versions as well

Does anyone else know of any other versions.

Courtney Love did one. A really drunken one. SURPRISE!

I tried the link to it on that thread, and it didn't work. Either the server's down or it's been moved.

Yeah.....it really sucked, at first I liked it because it was funny, because it was so bad....but that reaction finally wore off into just plain......ewwwww.

Mike Garrigan (www.mikegarrigan.com) did a beautiful cover of it with his band Collapsis. I don't know if it's available anywhere anymore though. they posted it to their website in 2001.

I can hunt it down for anyone who'd want to hear it.

He's a huge Aimee fan, so that makes it even better than just some band covering it because it's a cool 80's song.

Virgos Merlot covered "Voices Carry" back in 1998 or 1999, presumeably during the recording sessions for their Atlantic Records album "Signs of a Vacant Soul", though their version of "Voices Carry" was never released officially.

They gave the song a kind of gothic/industrial feel. Brett Hestla's voice really fit the song well. It is still available for listening at their myspace site

i love courtney love but her cover is quite bad.

she is actually a big aimee mann fan though....so it isnt random.

back when she was in hole she had aimee mann listed all over her favorite lists. she had links to buy the album and everything. this was bachelor #2 period.

you knew just how this thing would go

soundtracktokissing, could you post that link you mentioned to the Collapsis cover? Also, I'd love to hear this Courtney Love version everyone is buzzing about. Where can I find that one?

Check the dates of those posts Analog Kid. Some of those people don't come around here no more.

There is a "Hole" site called Hole Audio. It has at least one live recording of Courtney singing "Voices Carry". I don't know if the link works....I didn't try it....I don't want to try it. Good Luck!

As for Collapsis, they broke up years ago and it looks like they let their domain go. It's one of those junk hosting sites now.

Oh I know Collapsis broke up, but I thought Mike Garrigan was still going strong as a duo with Mark Kano from Athenaeum. Thus I thought one of their assorted fan sites would have a link or something.

Thanks for the Hole link!

There's a cover of "Voices Carry" by the female artist known as "Vitamin C", on the soundtrack to the new movie, "Sky High". I haven't seen the movie...or heard her version of the song.

She has a nice voice. But her cover is a bit lifeless; soul-less - and the echo effect that runs through the whole thing is really annoying.

I confess to having done one recently. I needed to test my recently purchased recording equipment, and went through the trouble of learning the guitar and keyboard parts by ear. I got my wife to sing it, because she sings and I do not (although I did put down some pretty shocking backgrounds).

I'm not telling anyone where it is.
