Aimee has lost me on this lyric....help!

Hi all,
Normally I wouldn't ask such a silly question - being a songwriter/poet myself - but i'm clueless here. Does anyone know what the heck Aimee is talking about when she sings 'knowing that all you've got is cigarettes and red vines' - what on earth is a red vine? Licorice comes to mind...but i'm guessing that's wrong. Is this some weird drug reference i'm not picking up? Any & all help would be appreciated - it's the only line by her I don't get - and i'm frustrated!

I'm pretty sure it's the licorice.

That's the only Aimee line you don't get? I envy you.

Even after all that rushing around, where we've ended up is the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. And maybe knowing isn't the point. Where we're standing right now, in the ruins in the dark, what we could build is anything.

Yes, "red vines" are just red licorice candy. Nothing symbolic in that phrase.

The song is basically about PT Anderson (the director of Magnoia) and Aimee's experience working with him. Or something like that.
